Trier is an old city located along the banks of Moselle in Germany. It is considered the oldest city in the country and was founded by a Assyrian Prince Trebeta, circa 16 BC. English speakers refer to the land as Treves. The place is also known for being an old, or the oldest, seat of a Christian bishop. That is, north of the Alps.
