If you travel north from Kuta you’ll find Seminyak which is a more refined area of Kuta. Seminyak is a more classy holiday destination in Bali, and is aimed at the couple and family travelers. You’ll find this district of Kuta much quieter and laid back. There are no groups of young people lurking around drinking and making a nuisance of themselves. That said staying in one of the Seminyak hotels is not dull, there is masses of entertainment on offer, but is more refined and intimate. Accommodation is often mid to top end and though it’s a lot more pricey the bargain hotels of South Kuta, the rates are very reasonable for the service and quality that you receive as a tourist.

Be careful of the monkeys, they’re all over Bali and will snatch anything that is hanging lose and easy to snatch including your glasses. If they do happen to snatch something make sure that they are not sitting next to a cliff and throw down some food. The monkeys will drop your item and go after the food. Even though most travelers are warned far too many don’t listen and finish up losing things, occasionally even expensive jewellery.
